Beer market leader San Miguel Brewery Inc. (SMB) stages its signature summer event this year, the San Miguel Pale Pilsen Sarap Mag Babad, with bigger surprises for the wise spending ‘barkada’ who want to make the most out of their summer break without spending more.

This year’s Sarap Mag Babad relevantly takes on the campaign "Taste of Summer," bringing together in seven popular destinations nationwide the most sought-after ingredients of summer get-togethers: the indispensable ‘pulutan’ (beer match) served hot and fresh off the grill; relaxing pop, acoustic and reggae music; the coolest souvenir freebies; and of course, overflowing supply of the best-tasting San Miguel Pale Pilsen.

"This year, we will bring the taste of summer to our loyal patrons who may not be able to go out of town or on a tight budget. We have partnered with food establishments who can accommodate San Miguel Pale Pilsen’s Sarap MagBabad celebrations. We believe that for as long as friends are complete, the festive summer ambience is set, and the best pulutan is readily available to match the ice-cold San Miguel Pale Pilsen, summer is always within reach," says SMB President Roberto N. Huang.

For 10 consecutive Fridays from March 2 to May 11, Sarap MagBabad will be celebrated at Super Six Grill in Malate, Manila; Valdez Center in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte; Manokan Country in Bacolod City; Ormoc Food Park in Ormoc City; Tagbilaran Port in Tagbilaran City, Bohol; Matina Town Square in Davao City; and at Tagum City Trade and Cultural Center in Tagum, Davao del Norte.

San Miguel Pale Pilsen partnered with these seven establishments for their proximity to the public, wide array of affordable and mouth-watering beer matches - from the top-selling sisig to the classic adobong mani, and spacious venues to hold the San Miguel Pale Pilsen Battle of the Bands, which is making a comeback after many years.

"This year, we will reintroduce the popular Battle of the Bands which has been the trademark event of our flagship beer brand, San Miguel Pale Pilsen. Musical talents abound in our country, and SMB believes that our aspiring local bands deserve a shot at showcasing their talents and being rewarded for their passion," adds Huang.

Interested bands of three to seven members each may audition at the San Miguel Pale Pilsen Battle of the Bands at any of the seven Sarap Mag Babad venues on March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, April 13, 20, and 27. Semi-finals will be held on May 4, where winners will advance to the Grand Finals on May 4. Bands playing pop, acoustic, or reggae music are invited to join.

A total of P 535,000 cash prize will be given away to all the participants of this amateur band competition.

To bring the Babad experience closer to the consumers, San Miguel Pale Pilsen also dished out the “Taste of Summer sa Bahay” promo which rewards patrons with free pulutan of Purefoods Sisis for every purchase of six bottles of San Miguel Pale Pilsen in sari-sari stores in Visayas and Mindanao; and Baliwag Lechon Manok for every purchase of one case of San Miguel Pale Pilsen in Baliwag Lechon Manok take-out kiosks in Metro Manila.

Sarap MagBabad also has a radio promo dubbed as "Bueno Mano Salvo Year 7" in partnership with Bombo Radyo. For a chance to win a tax-free cash prize of P1 million, consumers should submit their entries with specially-marked crowns of San Miguel Pale Pilsen 320 ML or Litro bottles.
