Bayawan City, Negros Occidental---The partnership between foundations with the common goal of improving access to education has borne fruit once more with the construction of classrooms in this province.
International recording artist and San Miguel Pale Pilsen endorser apl. d. ap. (Allan Pineda Lindo) unveiled two classrooms at Lapay Elementary School in Bayawan City under the Aklat, Gabay, Aruga tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag-asa (AGAPP) project, which partnered with San Miguel Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of the diversifying conglomerate San Miguel Corp.
Apl, who made a splash in the music scene with the Grammy award-winning Black Eyed Peas, led the turnover ceremony, which was attended by AGAPP chair Pinky Aquino-Abellada, the sister of President Aquino.
In a statement, the artist reiterated his resolve to bring education closer to those in need, saying that “poverty should not be a hindrance to one’s success.”
“I am grateful that the cooperation of like-minded individuals and organizations such as San Miguel Foundation and the AGAPP produced these classrooms which will benefit a lot of students,” apl said.
San Miguel Brewery Inc. (SMB) president Roberto N. Huang reaffirmed the company’s commitment to education with it being one of the handful endeavors that it strongly promotes.
